Refereeing the Scrum

For most of us, ensuring a fair and legal competition at scrum time is the most technically challenging part of the game.
To try and help it make sense to those of us who don’t have the benefit of years of experience in the murky depths of the front row of a scrum, the PNRRS RDO team have put together a sequential guide to what should be happening at each scrum – what the referee is doing, what the players are doing, what the referee should be looking at/for, and what the most normal issues are likely to be.
Hope you find it useful.

For anyone planning on refereeing any Rugby Oregon games, there is a requirement by Rugby Oregon that you have taken the Concussion Course within the last year. Your certificate must show that you completed the course after June of 2014. Go to the following link to take the course and obtain the certificate. It takes about 30 minutes and is free. If you already have a certificate dated after June 2014, send a copy of it to Peter Tuck (peter@olsonengr.com).
